Lowland
Once there were well over a hundred distilleries in the Lowlands of Scotland. Auchentoshan, Bladnoch and Glenkinchie distilleries are still producing Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Daftmill and Ailsa bay distilleries are producing but are yet to release a whisky. Rare whisky is still available from several lowland distilleries who have long since closed, such as St. Magdelene (aka Ayreshire), Rosebank and Littlemill. Some will group Loch Lomond distillery with Lowlanders.
Generally Lowland whisky is triple distilled, leading to lighter more floral spirit but with applying terroir to whisky, there are many exceptions.
